Change colour of data bars and tables (spreadsheets)

Changing the colour of the data bar

First, please select the top cell of the data bar, the “D4” cell.

You will then see the following formula written at the top.

After the MAX function, we add the colour function.

Before we can do this, we need to get the colour code of what colour we want it to be.

You can get the code for any colour you want by searching for something like “get colour code” on Google.

In this case, I used the results of a search for “pastel colour code” to get the “#eddbff” colour code.

If you change the light pink underline to a colour code of your choice and paste it into the original formula, it should change the colour.

And since only the first row has been changed, you will adapt it to the cells at the bottom.

Hover the cursor over the bottom right corner of the square in cell D4 to make a cross (+). Pull it down to the bottom data bar.

Then you have adapted it to all of them.

Changing the colour of a table (colour scale)

The next step is to change the colour of the colour scale.

This is the orange area.

From the top menu bar, select “Format”, then “Conditional formatting”.

In the “Conditional format rules’ section, select “Color Scale”.

Under “Formatting rules”, select “Custom”.

From here you can choose whatever you like, but in this case we’ll choose “White to green”.

For example, if you want to change the colour of the maximum value, press the paint-like icon and choose the colour you want.

If you want to specify a colour by colour code, for example, press the “+” symbol to make it the colour you want.
